Creativity Week, 2016 : xFIVE was present at Tournai and Charleroi
In the context of the 2016 Creativity Week, Creative Wallonia Engine and the 7 Creative Hubs of Wallonia have put in the spotlight the creative talents of our region under the generic theme "Make Wallonia". Different inventive, creative, enthusiastic people came from everywhere to illustrate how Wallonia's tomorrow is created, how it all begins, it is organized, it develops products and services of tomorrow .
In this context, and thanks to Elodie Wannez and Sandy Menegazzi WAP's Hub of Tournai (in which xFIVE is a partner), we were proud to present two examples of realizations that demonstrate possible orientations in the context of "energy for tomorrow" :
- EnergX, biogas unit designed to fit the requirement of mid-sized farms.
- RELIOS, a thermal solar panel 100% made of recycled materials.
The NanoEnergX demonstrator was developed with the support of students of the French Community Technical Institute Renée Joffroy, located in Ath. NanoEnergX allowed students to be involved in an industrial project directly linked to environmental and energy issues. They were making a really useful tool in a business context while learning their job with the support of competent and motivated teachers, because it is in practice that one learns to make perfect. Congratulations to them!
RELIOS was designed by Caroline Lepot for his final work for graduating as civil engineer in chemistry and materials in 2015. This solar panel is not only creative, but also environmentally friendly and highly efficient: its thermal performance is 60 to 80 % of those of a commercial thermal sensor. Only costing 120€ for 4m², it produces 43% of the hot water needs of a Belgian family of 4 with installed 4m². This project was awarded the prize of universality awarded by AILouvain in 2015, and has been nominated for the Belgian Prize for the Environment and Energy EEAWARD 2016
It’s on Wednesday the 2nd of March that Wagralim has brought out his project “D’Avenir” (www.davenir.be)
The “D’Avenir” (For the Future in English) approach has started in April 2014 thanks to the initiative of four federations (APFACA, Comeos Wallonie, FEVIA Wallonie, FWA). Coordinated by Wagralim cluster and supported by Wallonia for an initial period of 2 years, this project is dedicated to make evolving the Walloon food system towards more sustainability and shared prosperity.
The approach, coordinated by Françoise Bodson, brought together, in the same spirit, farmers, scientists, business managers of processing industry and distribution in a common discussion.
Concretely, after a collaboration of two years, this reflection led to the development of a vision and a strategy D'Avenir in nine points around the values that unify all stakeholders in the process.
The challenge is now to integrate the initiatives of the actors of the Walloon food system to find the solutions for the future, to promote them and to leverage them to advance the entire system towards sustainability.
The event was also the opportunity to present the 13 initiatives that have participated to the call for initiatives launched by the end of 2015 Wagralim. Three initiatives were selected and will be accompanied by the cluster.
In the opinion of everyone, the process is a success. It meets the expectations of the stakeholders of the food system involving the agricultural sector, the processing and distribution.
xFIVE is proud to have been able to contribute to this approach by supporting the cluster in the definition and implementation of the strategy D'Avenir.
